About Florida Democrats For Life
First of all, yes! There is such a thing as a Pro-life Democrat, however
here in Florida we prefer the term For-life
Democrat. In
fact as more and more individuals join Democrats for Life, we are learning
that our numbers are numerous.
On a national level Democrats for Life of America (DFLA),
headquartered in Washington, DC was formally organized in 1999 by
determined and loyal Democrats who believe that the Democratic Party has,
in recent history, mistakenly strayed from its roots of being the party
which fights for the rights of ALL Americans.
Florida Democrats for Life was incorporated to reach out to
registered Florida Democrats who share the same ideals as the DFLA whose
purpose is to advance the respect for life in the Democratic Party, to
advocate for-life legislation and to identify and promote Democratic
candidates who support the right to life. Florida DFLA is one of a
growing number of state chapters across the United States.
We believe that the Democratic Party is the party of inclusion.
Historically, Democrats have been on the right side of history in the
important struggle for human rights and the Party should return to its
tradition of speaking for the most vulnerable in society.
Furthermore our Party's pro-choice view on abortion has hindered the elect
ability of our candidates for too long.
For-life Democrats have been silent for too long as well. Now is the time
for our party to hear us and to help restore the for-life conscience of
Democrats and America.
